Description: Languages International (Toronto) has offered quality language programs since 1989 in the heart of downtown Toronto. In addition to Intensive ESL programs, accommodation and services for international students, LI also offers a teacher training program geared toward native English speakers. Our 100-hour TESL certificate course is 8 weeks long and includes classroom instruction as well as a practicum period. The course is very hands-on and our small classes of 8 students allows personal attention and dynamic interaction within the classroom context. Course content includes: teaching methodologies, grammar review, lesson planning, teaching specific skills, learning styles, error correction, classroom management, resource development, technology in the classroom, evaluation, and cultural awareness. Students complete various assignments and presentations and also complete a 3-week practice teaching period during which they receive feedback. We also cover job search strategies, provide job leads, issue letters of reference and hold a panel discussion lead by experienced international instructors. Our TESL course is recognized by CAPLS and is suitable for those who want to teach in language institutes in Canada and abroad.
