Description:
The Teacher Training Certificate Program at Action in English (part of EC Boston) is specially designed for those who want to teach English as a Second Language but need experience first. It is unique in that it is extremely practical. We offer participants concrete advice about how to teach, plus extensive experience in observation, lesson preparation, and delivery. We give thorough feedback on your lessons. By the time you complete our four-week or 12-week course, you will feel confident about your ability to teach English to non-native speakers. In addition, those who successfully complete the Action in English Teacher Training Program will receive a TEFL Certificate. These two qualifications --- self-confidence and a Certification in TEFL -- are valuable assets in finding teaching jobs in the United States and abroad. Tuition (includes books & materials) 4-week full-time USD 2295 12-week part-time USD 2145 * for US residents or international students not requiring an F-1 student visa only
Highlights:
We provide prospective teachers: * Practical techniques for developing a good classroom atmosphere and teaching the four basic skills. We include knowledge of good ice-breaking activities, as well as many different activities that can be used in the classroom to facilitate learning. * Extensive experience in classroom observation. Second to teaching, observing excellent teachers is the best way for anyone to learn to teach. All Action in English students observe select ESL classes at the EC Boston (formerly known as the Olin Center) and other affiliated schools. * Practice preparing lessons. Trainers teach Action in English students to prepare and revise lessons according to the identified needs of the class. * Teaching experience. Participants in the Action in English Certificate Program begin peer teaching within the first 3 class meetings. By the completion of the course, you will have taught numerous lessons to actual ESL students. * Information about how to find or develop the resources you need in your future teaching career. * Access to partner organizations with consistent job opportunities worldwide. * Training in preparing your resume and finding the right job for you.
