Some of the modules of the TEFL Academy certification course are: * Grammar - past, present, and future forms as well as syntax, modals, conditionals, et.al. * Pronunciation: phonetics, stress, rhythm and intonation * Lexis - teaching vocabulary and the lexical approach * Methodologies and their applications * Lesson aims and planning * Teaching students how to interpret (reading and listening) * Teaching students how to convey (writing and speaking) * Learning how to teach grammar concepts in context * Error correction * Business English * Using and exploiting coursebooks * Teaching and job-hunting in Latin America * What to expect in a classroom and how to handle it Observed and assessed teaching practice A large part of the course consists of teaching foreigners in lesson demonstration classes. Planning for and reflecting on your own and others' lessons are crucial components of this part. As well as learning from your own and your peers' teaching practice, you will have the opportunity to observe experienced teachers deliver lessons to the same students you will be teaching.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degrees (or equivalent) from universities are all accepted, although others without a degree can also take the course as well provided they demonstrate a good command of English and are comfortable with the challenging requirements of successful course completion. No prior teaching experience is required. In order for non-native speakers to be accepted, they must demonstrate an exceptional command of the English language.
