Drawing on more than 20 years of combined experience in international education, GVI has developed these two unique TEFL courses with the intention of providing local communities with access to tourism and helping them benefit from tourism development in their area. A certificate will be awarded to full participants. Course Aims: The aim of the 20 hour introductory courses are to enable students with the following skills: - Understand and apply language learning theories when designing EFL courses. - Use appropriate teaching strategies according to course and students needs. - Design consistent curricula to boost language learning. - Plan class activities using a variety of resources. - Evaluate students achievements using alternative strategies. Locations: The introductory course is available in Mahahual, Mexico, Pez Maya, Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Kenya. 100 hour TEFL Certificate course: The introductory course includes 100 hours of training and practical experience including theoretical information, training sessions, lesson planning, classroom experience and review. A certificate will be awarded to full participants. The 100 hour TEFL Certificate course includes: - Practice teaching within an ongoing community English programme - Between 5 and 10 hours of assessed teaching - Guided self and peer evaluation, and verbal and written feedback from peers and trainers - Minimum 6 hours observation of experienced teachers - Trainer supported lesson planning - Weekly one on one progress tutorials - 24 to 30 hours of training/input sessions - Two written assignments - Opportunity to teach own or shared class in subsequent 5-week expedition with some support Course Aims: The aim of the 100 hour certificate course is to enable the following skills: - Understand and apply language learning theories when designing EFL courses and lessons. - Use appropriate teaching strategies according to course and students needs. - Plan varied class activities using limited resources. - Evaluate students achievements using varied strategies. - Design consistent curricula to foster language learning. Locations: The 100 hour TEFL Certificate course is offered in Tulum, Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula, and Phang Nga in Thailand.
