Description: Courses offered by INTESOL Greece:

1.INTESOL Certificate in TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages), accredited by the College of Teachers. There are two options to take this course:
   a) 4-week face-to-face course
   b) Flexible/hybrid course
The 4-week course and the hybrid course are fully accredited & certified to meet international standards.

Course description:
The training involves over eight hours of Observed Teaching Practice and 150 hours of classroom instruction. This course is designed in such a way that you will acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical skills for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Through the experiential learning approach, "learning by doing" used in this course, you will gain the knowledge and skills that will allow you to confidently teach English to students of any level, age or cultural background. The way the course is conducted will actively engage you in practical and interactive activities that will make your learning fun in spite of the intensity of the course. The training you receive will provide you with a solid foundation and the skills necessary to teach English confidently around the world. Our training centre prides itself on facilitating each student's learning of teaching based on the respect they have for your own individuality; they do not create carbon copies of teachers.

Teaching Practice (8 to 10 hours of teaching groups and individual students)

Course content:
1. Basic Principles in TESOL
2. Classroom Management and Lesson Planning
3. Language awareness: grammar, vocabulary, phonology
4. Teaching language skills: speaking, writing, listening, reading
5. Using visual Aids
6. Correcting Students Errors
7. Assessing Students Progress
8. Teaching Specific Groups of Learners (ESP, Young Learners, Teaching for Examinations)
9. Cultural Issues in TESOL
10. Using Video, Drama and Songs in the English Classroom
11. Greek Lessons

+ 8 hours of observed Teaching Practice of real students (groups of students and individual students)
The lesson preparation time is scheduled every day. You will work with a trainer to prepare your lessons so that you can gradually gain confidence in teaching EFL/ESL.

The Trainers are highly qualified and have years of teaching and teacher training experience in different locations all over the world. Last but not least, the social program is a unique opportunity to combine learning teaching with learning about the culture of the local area.

The school is located in the heart of Chania, the cultural capital of Crete; it is close to banks, travel agencies, shops, pharmacies and everything that makes your student life comfortable and safe. Besides the high standards of training, our centre prides itself in providing our students with a fully equipped resource room (computers connected to the Internet, teaching materials, reference books, coursebooks, etc) and classrooms and a small library with books that you can borrow and read in your spare time. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine for your convenience and a huge terrace on the top of the building where you can take refuge, prepare your lessons and sunbathe at the same time.

Your accommodation is in a real house in the Old Town, two-minute walk from the Old Venetian Harbour and ten-minute walk from INTESOL training Centre. The house is fully furnished and equipped with everything that is necessary for a comfortable stay during the course. Optional social excursions are organized for the weekends during the course.

Qualifications: Prospective trainees need to be college or university graduates, native or non-native speakers of English. Non-native speakers will have to make proof of their standard of English at CPE level A or B or CAE level A.
