Description: Module 1: Introduction to Teaching English as a Second Language

Module 2: Language and Skills Overview

This module addresses planning a balanced and appropriate syllabus for students. Topics include:

- Interrelation between language, skills and their constituents
- Balance of each aspect of language and skills

Module 3: Pronunciation: Pronunciation topics include:

- Stress
- Phonemics
- Connected Speech
- Weak Forms
- Minimal Pairs
- Modeling
- Drilling
- Isolating and Correcting Errors

Module 4: Language

Language topics include:
- Grammar
- Vocabulary
- Language awareness
- Language functions
- Components of a language item
- Language presentation methodologies
- Language practice methodologies

Module 5: Skills

- Receptive vs productive skills
- Receptive skills methodologies

Module 6: Learner Profiling, Needs Analysis and Testing

Module 9: CALL/Special Groups:

CALL or Computer Assisted Language Learning topics include:
- Adapting tasks to software

- Computer lab management strategies
- Planning CALL lessons
- Adapting tasks to any video
- Video presentation methodologies
- Incorporating AV learning into your lesson plans

Module 10: Life After Certification:

This final module focuses on getting a job and what to do and expect on the job. Topics include:
- Resume/CV and interview
- Choosing a school

- Life abroad
- Professional conduct
- Professional development

In addition to the curriculum described above, each course shall include a minimum of 12 hours observed teaching practice with real ESL students, including 2 hours each beginner, intermediate and upper intermediate level adults and 2 hours each beginner, intermediate and upper intermediate level young learners.

4 week Residential China TESOL/TEFL/TESL

Highlights: 12 hours minimum observed teaching practice, free accommodation, CALL and young learner qualifications included, guaranteed job placement in China immediately upon graduation, flight reimbursement, tuition reimbursement if placed in our institution, free martial arts instruction, (Yip Man Wing Chun, white crane, shaolin, and/or konigun ninjutsu, free weekend excursions to the scenic, Guangdong and Fujian countryside. We are now pleased to be cooperating with a major University in Guangzhou, just a short train ride from Hong Kong, to make our course more expat friendly.
