Description:
Our internationally recognized certificate is 130 hours and provides participants with professional knowledge and skills as well as tools for their own reflection and growth as teachers. The course provides practical training through teaching demonstrations, lesson planning and analysis, and practice teaching and feedback. Participants develop skills in teaching, speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and culture. The course begins with a brief look at second language acquisition through the experience of being a learner. Participants then examine specific teaching areas each day, which they apply in their daily practice teaching of adult ESOL learners. Participants gain skills in analysis through examining their lessons with SIT teacher trainers. The innovative course curriculum was designed by SIT faculty, and is based on humanistic, experiential, and progressive teaching.

Theory comes from practice. - 130 hours of instruction including workshops, 6 hours of teaching practice with real students, and feedback with trainers licensed by the School for International Training (SIT). - An in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals of teaching English as well as a solid set of teaching skills. - A foundation in reflective practice that will enable you to continue growing as a teacher. - Convenient for people working or taking other classes. The course runs over 3 months with workshops are held on Saturdays and teaching practice on Wednesday evenings.
Qualifications:
- 18 years or older - Capable of doing college level work - An interest in English, teaching, learning, and culture - A minimum 550 on the paper TOEFL for non-native speakers (80 on the IBT TOEFL or 6 on IELTS)
