Description: Anglo Centres TEFL offers a range of online, residential and combined (online plus residential) TEFL / TESOL courses as well as a comprehensive suite of Teaching English for Business courses that will give you the qualifications you need to live and teach abroad.

Course options:

Option 1: The Online Certificate in TEFL.

If you want to teach English abroad then you need an internationally-recognised 'standard' TEFL qualification. The Online TEFL has meant to many the possibility of working and living abroad.
The way it works is very simple: you go through the course materials and complete a series of tasks for each unit of the course with the support and guidance of your own distance learning tutor. When you finish a unit you send your tutor your work via email or ordinary mail. Evaluation is continual; there are no exams or tests.

Anglo Centres TEFL is a ACTDEC accredited centre and on course completion successful candidates receive the Certificate of Educational Studies in TESOL accredited by ACTDEC (the Accreditation Council for TESOL Distance Education Courses) which confers them an official Associate Teacher of ESOL Status, PLUS the Anglo Centres Certificate in TEFL.

Option 2: The Combined Advanced Certificate in TEFL.

Our Combined TEFL Course consists of two TEFL certificates leading to the Advanced Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL):

i. Online Certificate in TEFL
ii. Teaching Practice Certificate

The combined TEFL course means you do the theoretical part via distance learning and then spend 5-10 days with us for the teaching practice component of the course. The combined course has several potential benefits as it allows you to absorb the theory at your own pace and in your own time after which you will be much better prepared to teach good lessons as part of your observed teaching practice. This will give you the chance to make contacts and learn about job opportunities first hand. Additionally, having a teaching practice certificate tends to go down really well with prospective employers.

The teaching practice phase can be taken at any given time (you decide when); you do not need to have completed the online part although it is recommended you have done at least half of it.

After you have completed the online phase you are awarded a Certificate in TEFL and after the teaching practice block your qualification is upgraded to an 'Advanced TEFL Certificate'.

The teaching practice phase is very flexible; in other words we try to accommodate our students' needs and can last between 5 and 10 days. If you choose a 5-day option it will be more intensive whereas 10 days would give you more time to absorb feedback and lesson plan for your practice.

On course completion successful candidates receive the Certificate of Educational Studies in TESOL accredited by ACTDEC (the Accreditation Council for TESOL Distance Education Courses) which confers them an official Associate Teacher of ESOL Status, PLUS the Anglo Centres Advanced Certificate in TEFL.

Option 3: The 4-week intensive Advanced TEFL Certificate

Our 4-week residential TEFL course involves over 180 hours of coursework, including at least six hours of hands-on teaching practice with real foreign language students. Classroom hours will primarily focus on ELT methodology and teaching practice. All of our classes take a hands-on, fun orientated approach to learning. Instead of teaching from a textbook, we learn together through interactive, fun workshops. You will also be given opportunities to observe experienced teachers using the skills you have learned in a real classroom setting. In the end, you too will be given an opportunity to apply your newly acquired knowledge to teaching English to real students in a real classroom.

Successful candidates are awarded the Anglo Centres Advanced Certificate in TEFL.

After completing any of these courses you have the option of taking the internationally-recognised Cambridge ESOL Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT).

Qualifications: Applicants/Course participants need to be over 18 years of age and proficient in the use of the English language. A University degree is preferred but it is not essential; applicants who can communicate clearly in the English language will also be considered. No previous teaching experience of any kind is required. In order to be accepted on the course Applicants need to submit an application form with personal details as well as two brief essays on why they want to take the course. This may be followed by a telephone interview in order to ascertain the Applicant's command of the English language is well within the communicative demands of course content and tasks.
