Description:
The CELT (Certificate of English Language Teaching) is recognized by The Advisory Council for English Language Schools (ACELS) who work under the auspices of the Department of Education and Science in Ireland. The course is intended for a wide range of candidates including those who are entirely new to teaching, those who have taught languages but have little or no training and teachers of other subjects who want to take up language teaching. The course is run full-time and part-time and consists of 120 hours face to face contact. This is broken up into: * Seminars and workshops * Teaching practice with supervised lesson planning and preparation * Observation of experienced teachers and peers * Trainer directed study
Highlights:
The TEFL certificate gives the successful candidate the opportunity to work both in Ireland and many countries abroad. The teaching practice that candidates will undertake offers essential experience and gives candidates the opportunity to link theory with practice. Candidates will also observe qualified teachers in practice.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant will be at least 20 years old. They will also demonstrate that they: * Have the study skills required to complete the course programme and coursework * Are able to communicate clearly, correctly and appropriately in spoken and written English to the standards required to undertake the course programme and complete the coursework. * Are able to comply with the attendance requirements and are in a position to complete all necessary coursework. * Candidates for whom English is not their first language must also provide documentary evidence (from within the last two years) that their level of English is equivalent to Common European Framework level C2; Cambridge ESOL Certificate of Proficiency in English (Grade C minimum), Cambridge ESOL Certificate in Advanced English (Grade A minimum), IELTS band 7.0 (on all sub-scores) or TOEFL score 600 (250 with computer-based score/100 with internet based test) These will be assessed by a member of the admissions office by referring to candidates application form, pre-course tasks, interview, experience (where relevant), references (where relevant), copy of degree and copy of English language proficiency certification (where relevant). Please note that non-degree holders may complete the course. However, they will not be eligible for an ACELS/ HETAC recognized/ validated award, and will not comply with the Department of Education & Science criteria for employment of teachers in the recognised sector in Ireland.

900 Euros for both full and parttime courses for Irish and EU citizens. Please note that an additional administration fee may apply for non-EU citizens. A deposit of 200 Euros is required to secure your place on the course, payable upon receipt of your letter of acceptance.
