The Teach International Certificate IV in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) consists of: IN-CLASS COMPONENT (34 hrs) Face-to-face training = 28 hours Guided Research = 6 hours We cover three main aspects of the TESOL teaching industry: 1. Academics Objectives and Tools for the communicative ESL classroom How to teach grammar and pronunciation using the Communicative approach Lessons for different levels The use of groups in the ESL classroom Classroom management Lesson planning Using activities and music in the classroom 2. Job Search Process Regional profiles - information on the ESL markets around the world Composing an international resume & introduction letter Expected job opportunities Using the Internet effectively in all areas of TESOL 3. Preparation for overseas working and living Culture shock, reverse culture shock Taxes, Health Insurance, Visas What teaching resources to take with you ONLINE COMPONENTS (130 hours) Grammar Course (20 hrs - compulsory) With a solid understanding of the basics of English grammar as it applies to ESOL learners, you will be much better equipped to present useful language tools to your students. Electives (60 hrs): 1. Teaching Business English / TOEIC (10hrs) 2. Teaching English to Children (10hrs) 3. Teaching IELTS Preparation (10hrs) 4. Teaching English to Adults (10hrs) 5. Qualifications:
Applicants must be: * a native English speaker or fluent in English with a minimal accent (non-native speakers will be required to submit evidence of English language proficiency) * 18 years old and have completed high school * keen to travel and experience different cultures No experience or tertiary qualification required.
